The Nest (Fészek) restaurant
Mon, Feb 9, 2009
This more than 100 year old historical building houses the Nest (Fészek) restaurant, which was originally founded by artists and has been recently renovated. It now awaits not only artists! From Spring to Autumn there is a quaint atmosphere in it’s garden, with buckeye trees, and events ranging from family reunions to wedding receptions.
The restaurant awaits guests with pleasant background music, traditional Hungarian and international cuisine, over 19 kinds of house schnapps and 29 kinds of quality Hungarian wines. From Tuesday through Saturday live bands play jazz and swing music.
The head chef, Tibor Jászai, who also holds the French title of Chef Rötisseur, prepares the dishes listed below, amongst many others, which allows him to change the menu weekly:
Rosé breast of duck in a red wine mushroom ragu sauce, and potatoe side dish.
Flaméd “Fészek” shashlik (spiced chicken breast, tenderloin, and steak bites).
Grilled gooseliver with carmelized apple and mashed potatoes.
To add even more color to the menu, there are a variety of culinary curiosities on offer such as whole cooked Balaton fish, which the waiters filé and serve at your table. Flambéed “flaming” chocolate Hungarian pancake filled with rum cherries has also become a favorite of returning guests. Everybody will find something right up their alley in our 2009 Summer program. We plan to have wine dinners with classical music, a salad festival and for the first time the “A little garden music”- “Fészek” Music and Culture Days.
A quote from the restaurants guestbook:
“Because I had a great dinner here, played cards till dawn, filled my night with famous bohemian comedians and had the thick cigar smoke forever cover my secret lover.”
Bless this place…
