The city-owned Budapest Zoo is found in one of the city’s most popular areas, the City Park. It’s only a few minutes walk from Heroes Square, the Fine Arts Museum, and other popular cultural establishments in the park.

Naturally you can also find elephants, hippos, giraffes, great apes, big cats, bears, sea lions, pinguins and many other animals. On of the zoo’s most popular inhabitants is the little rhino - the first rhino in the world that was born as a result of artificial insemination.
There is also a large collection of flora awaiting visitors: thousands of plants cover the Zoo in stunning colors.
Besides the animals and plants, many people also come to enjoy the beautiful, turn of the 20th century buildings which house the animals in unique and protected architecture.
