Budapest public transport
As in every capital city, public transport plays an important role in getting people around- For those arriving in Budapest, we suggest those with a love of extreme sports give the city’s public transport system a try. For those used to traveling comfortable in their our cars, seeing the beauty of Budapest public transport may be a little difficult at first glance.
But seriously, the system pretty much covers the whole city, but finding a seat on the lines crossing through major thoroughfares is a waste of time, and we can consider ourselves lucky to find a not too uncomfortable standing spot.
There are presently 3 metro lines working in the city (M3-Blue, M2-red, M1-yellow) abd slowly but surely there will be a 4th line as well.
Budapest has a wide variety of transport types: bus, trolly bus, tram, HÉV (local area train), metro and a chairlift into the Buda Hills all give opportunities for travel.
